The Beginner Optimist program is an introductory sailing class for children ages 6-10; it is HIGHLY recommended that sailors have completed Kindergarten. During this class, your sailor will learn the basic skills needed to be a successful sailor-- how to be safe and comfortable around the water, how to be properly prepared for sailing each day, how to rig, de-rig, and care for their boats and equipment, along with gaining a new set of on-the-water skills each day.
