Intermediate Optimist

Days: Monday-Thursday
Time: 9am-12pm
Fee: $550 per session or $990 Full Summer; includes regatta coaching
- Session I - June 10 - July 3 (No Class 7/4)
- Session II - July 8 - August 1
The Intermediate Optimist program is designed for 8-12 year old sailors who are interested in advancing their racing skills and beginning to race competitively. This course is geared for sailors who can successfully get around a race course from start to finish in the R,W,B Fleet. THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR THE GREEN FLEET SAILOR. While building upon their experience in Step 2 Optis, this course is geared toward that sailor who is excited to learn more about racing and to take their knowledge and skills to a more competitive level.
The class will include topics: rules, signal flags, basic tactics, and race courses. Sailors will also learn new boat handling techniques in order to prepare them for racing. We encourage all participants in this class to provide their own boat/equipment. We have a limited number of boats available for use in the Intermediate Opti class for an additional fee.
Sailors in the Intermediate Class are expected and encouraged to participate in all Summer Optimist regattas. Trailer space will be available, parents are expected to help tow!
