Spring MYST Season Cancelled due to Coronavirus

Update 3.23.2020

Dear MYST Parents and Sailors,

It is with a very heavy heart and complete disappointment that we are cancelling our MYST Spring Sailing season. With schools being closed indefinitely by Governor Evers and news that the Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association (MISSA) has cancelled all Tier 1 & 2 events through the end of the season and at the moment, all MISSA sanctioned events through May 1st, including Tier 3 regattas, we feel that it is important to follow these same regulations to ensure we are doing everything possible to keep our sailors and coaches safe and healthy during this health emergency.

Although with the traditional MYST Spring season cancelled, we are still remaining hopeful to be able to get out on the water when it is deemed safe for all. We are unsure of that timing but will continue to asses the situation for opportunities for our MYST sailors to come together and sail in May. We hope to participate in the remaining Tier 3 regattas scheduled in May. We have NOT cancelled the May Madness regatta for May 8-9, but will be following the lead of the school districts and MISSA. Please continue to watch for more information regarding these opportunities in the weeks ahead.

I will also be sending another email with links to websites to keep our sailors engaged and connected with sailing through virtual regattas, youtube videos, rules quizzes & talks, and more. Stay tuned!

While this is very disappointing for all, we feel that this is the most responsible thing to do at this time in light of the ongoing global health crisis. We are all sharing many emotions of disappointment, sadness, anger, confusion and denial, please feel free to have your sailors reach out to Jeff, Tess, or me to chat.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do for you during this time.

Thank you,

A COVID-19 Update
